Members must meet one of the following criteria:
Participant may be a member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida or Descendant.
Participant may be a member of a federally recognized tribe with a CDIB card.
Participant may be a resident on Seminole Tribal Property with a parent who is tribal member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
The county of residence is the primary county for 4-H enrollment. Youth are encouraged to enroll in their home county. Tribal 4-H members will call the Seminole Tribe their home county, not their physical address. A 4-H member cannot be enrolled in the same project in two different counties at the same time. Bordering counties may determine local guidelines for cross-county enrollment, with notification to the 4-H extension agents involved.
4-H members transferring from one county to another are accepted by that county and given full credit for their past 4-H work or achievements. All 4-H members must be enrolled through Florida 4-H Online.
Persons with disabilities have the right to request and receive reasonable accommodation. Each youth and event must be evaluated individually, assessing whether the youth is qualified for the event and whether he or she would be able to participate in the event with or without accommodation. As long as the youth meets essential requirements of the activity, participation is welcomed.
Membership age of youth participation is determined by the youth’s age as of September 1 of the current program year (September 1 – August 31). The minimum age of a 4-H’er is 5 years old and the maximum age for a 4-H’er is 18 years old, or completion of high school, whichever comes first. Youth whose membership age is beyond 18 who have qualified for a National Contest (as a culminating event for their project learning) shall be eligible to participate in the event as long as they qualify as per National Contest policies.
Youth classified as an “exceptional student” and thus determined eligible for a special program by the State Board of Education [Florida Statute 1003.01(3)(a)] shall be eligible to participate in 4-H until the age of 21 years old (National 4-H upper age limit) or completion of high school, whichever comes first. The final day for any youth to register online for the 2021-2022 show season will be October 31st, 2021. This deadline is for cattle, swine and small animal clubs. Registration for special interest clubs or new clubs will have open enrollment.
“I love animals and feel very strongly that people should not be allowed to buy a pet if they are not able to look after it. Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.”
